FedEx named Jamere Jackson as its new chief financial officer, effective Nov. 30. Jackson most recently led finance and store development at auto parts retailer AutoZone, where he has been finance chief since January 2021.
The package delivery giant noted in a press release today that Jackson’s background blends financial discipline with operational experience that will help it drive growth.
“Jamere brings a deep understanding of how disciplined financial strategy translates into strong operational performance,” said Raj Subramaniam, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Corporation, in the release. “Throughout his career, he has proven his ability to balance strategic investments in growth with an unwavering focus on profitability, cash generation and capital allocation. I am confident Jamere’s leadership will support FedEx’s strong momentum in driving profitable growth and help deliver long-term value for stockholders.”
Jackson’s annual base salary will be $1 million, and he will receive a $2 million signing bonus, paid in two installments in November 2026 and November 2027, according to an SEC filing.
Before joining AutoZone, Jackson was executive vice president and CFO of car rental company Hertz Global Holdings and finance chief of Nielsen Holdings, a media audience measurement and data analytics firm. Earlier in his career, he held several leadership positions at General Electric, including as chief financial officer of a division of GE Oil and Gas. He currently serves on the board of directors for Eli Lilly & Co., where he is chair of the audit committee.
Jackson replaces Claude Russ, who has been interim CFO since June 1, when John Dietrich left the company after the completion of FedEx Freight’s spinoff. Russ has worked at FedEx for the last 24 years and has been the enterprise vice president of finance since June 2024.
Speaking on Jackson’s departure in a separate Monday press release, Phil Daniele, AutoZone’s president and chief executive officer, said: “During Jamere’s six-year tenure at AutoZone, he was a key contributor in helping shape the strategies we implemented to drive record sales, earnings and earnings per share. I appreciate his many contributions to our success and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
AutoZone has started a search for his successor.
