James Mackey is joining BankUnited as senior executive vice president on Aug. 15 and will take over as the bank’s finance chief on Nov. 1. Most recently, Mackey was CFO for Wells Fargo’s consumer lending division. He was previously CFO for Freddie Mac and Ally Financial and was a divisional CFO for Bank of America’s corporate investments, corporate treasury and private equity divisions. Mackey succeeds longtime chief financial officer Leslie Lunak, who plans to retire on Jan. 1, 2026. Lunak joined BankUnited in 2010 and became CFO in 2013.
Jim Meyer | Thermo Fisher Scientific
Thermo Fisher Scientific promoted Jim Meyer, vice president of financial operations, to CFO, effective March 1, 2026. Meyer joined Thermo Fisher in 2009 and has held several finance leadership roles in its laboratory products, analytical instruments, and customer channels businesses. He assumed his current role in January 2023. Previously, he worked as an assurance manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Meyer will succeed Stephen Williamson, who plans to retire from the company on March 31, 2026. Williamson joined the company in 2001 as vice president of European financial operations and has been CFO since 2015.
Carlos Cabrera | Patreon
Patreon on Thursday named Carlos Cabrera as the media and community platform’s first chief financial officer. Cabrera joined the company in 2014 and is its longest-tenured employee. Since 2021, he has been senior vice president of finance. He has held several roles over his tenure, including vice president of data science and operations and lead data scientist. Before joining Patreon, he was a lead catastrophe risk modeler at Risk Management Solutions, a strategy and operations leader at music equipment manufacturer Electro-Harmonix and an environmental strategy consultant at Redstone Strategy Group.
Bob Ryder | Sleep Number
Sleep Number CFO Francis Lee stepped down as CFO and will remain with the company as an adviser through Aug. 15. The company appointed Bob Ryder as the mattress maker’s interim CFO while it looks for Lee’s permanent replacement. Since 2015, Ryder has been a senior adviser at Boston Consulting Group and the CEO of management consulting firm Horsepower Advisors. Ryder has held several CFO positions over his 30 years of experience in financial leadership roles, including as interim CFO of Resideo Technologies, a spin-off of Honeywell International; CFO of Constellation Brands, a global beverage and alcohol company; and CFO of American Greetings, a greeting card company.
Amanda Gnecco | Alliance Entertainment
Amanda Gnecco was promoted to finance chief of Alliance Entertainment, a distributor and fulfillment partner for the entertainment and pop culture collectibles industry. Gnecco joined Alliance in 2018 and played a key role in its transition from a private to a public company. For the last year, she has been its chief accounting officer, and she was earlier senior vice president of accounting and finance. Before Alliance Entertainment, Gnecco led accounting teams and held senior financial roles at Envision Healthcare and Pet Supermarket. Gnecco assumes the role from Jeff Walker, who held dual CEO and CFO roles.
Eric Steele | Recurly
Subscription management platform Recurly hired Eric Steele as its new CFO. Steele was most recently chief financial officer of digital guest engagement platform Paytronix. Before that, he held several senior leadership positions over his seven years at smart-living products maker Snap One, where he helped scale the business to over $1 billion in revenue and led its public market debut. Steele replaces Steven Springsteel, who joined the company in 2021 as finance chief from performance management solution provider Betterworks, where he held the same role.
Amanda Jones | BBC Studios
Amanda Jones, interim CFO of British content company BBC Studios, will take on the role permanently in August. Jones assumed the interim CFO role 12 months ago and replaces Lorraine Burgess, who was named finance chief in 2021. Jones was most recently chief financial officer of consumer data provider Kantar Worldpanel, where she helped transform its finance function. She earlier spent over 12 years at the U.K. broadcast television network in several financial leadership roles, including finance director of its On Demand division.
Robert McMahon | West Pharmaceutical Services
West Pharmaceutical Services named Robert McMahon as its new CFO, effective Aug. 4. McMahon has been chief financial officer of Agilent Technologies since 2018. Before that, he was CFO of Hologi, and he had earlier spent 20 years with Johnson & Johnson in executive financial roles. McMahon succeeds Bernard Birkett, who is retiring. Birkett will transition to the role of senior adviser to the CEO through the end of the year.
