On August 5, Doug Garis will take over as finance chief of MultiPlan, a healthcare cost management company. Most recently, Garis was CFO of Oracle’s largest vertical industry — Oracle health and life sciences — where he led all financial operations after its $28 billion acquisition of Cerner in 2022. He was previously head of FP&A at Cerner. Garis started his career at PwC and went on to hold multiple financial leadership roles at Masonite International. Jim Head, who has been the company’s EVP and CFO since November 2021, will transition to a strategic advisor role through the end of the year.

Etsy‘s finance chief Rachel Glaser will retire after a nearly 40-year career in strategic finance roles. Glaser will stay in her current role until a successor is appointed and will remain with the company in an advisory capacity through June 30, 2025. Etsy has retained an executive recruiting firm to help find her replacement. Glaser joined the online marketplace in 2017 as CFO from Leaf Group, where she held the same role.

Tim Foote, CFO of BlackBerry’s cybersecurity division, was promoted to company chief financial officer. Foote joined the company after BlackBerry acquired Good Technology in 2015 and has more than 20 years of experience across several senior finance leadership positions.  While at BlackBerry, Foote’s roles have included managing the company’s international finance operations and vice president of investor relations. Foote replaces Steve Rai, who is leaving the company.

Anders Malmström will succeed John Dacey as group chief financial officer of Swiss Re. Malmström will join the insurance company in early 2025 from European savings and retirement services group Athora Holdings, where he has been group chief financial officer since May 2021. He earlier was CFO at Equitable Holdings in New York, was senior executive director and CFO of AXA US and held senior leadership roles at Swiss Life Group.

Meghan Ryan, formerly the CFO of Treasury Prime, has joined the banking technology provider MANTL in her third CFO role. Before her time at Treasury Prime, Ryan worked for Affirm for four years, including as CFO of their Canadian business in her inaugural CFO position. Before becoming a CFO, she worked as senior director of capital markets at Affirm and as an associate at Goldman Sachs and Deloitte.

Integrity Marketing Group, a distributor of life and health insurance and provider of wealth management and retirement planning solutions, named Linda Zukauckas its new CFO. Before joining Integrity, she was the CFO at Nielsen Holdings for just over three years. She was previously EVP and deputy CFO at American Express; held senior finance roles at Ally Financial; and leadership roles at Deutsche Bank in Asia and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Zukauckas is also a board member at TransUnion and Zelis.

Vanessa Kanu will take over as finance chief of Aptar, a manufacturer of consumer dispensing packaging and drug delivery devices, on January 1, 2025. She will join the company early in the 2024 fourth quarter as CFO designate. Kanu was most recently CFO of technology services firm TELUS International, where she led the largest technology IPO in the history of the Toronto Stock Exchange. Before that, she worked at global technology firm Mitel Networks for over 16 years in several financial leadership roles including CFO. Kanu succeeds Bob Kuhn, who is retiring at the end of the year after 37 years with the company — 16 of them as CFO. 

Carlos Ferreiro | TelevisaUnivision

Carlos Ferreiro, CFO of Spanish-language media and content company TelevisaUnivision, is stepping down for health reasons but will stay with the company in an advisory role. Before joining the company as CFO in 2021, Ferreiro held various leadership positions at Grupo Televisa for over 20 years. Juan Pablo Newman Aguilar, chief growth officer of TelevisaUnivision Mexico, has been named interim CFO, effective September 1. Before joining TelevisaUnivision, Newman Aguilar was CEO of Afore XXI-Banorte, the largest pension fund in Latin America.

Automotive services company Driven Brands appointed Michael Diamond as chief financial officer, effective August 9. Diamond was most recently CFO of crafts retailer The Michaels Companies. He earlier spent six years at Yum! Brands in senior finance leadership roles and most recently as the CFO of Pizza Hut U.S. He started his career in private equity and spent four years at the Boston Consulting Group. Diamond takes over for interim CFO Joel Arnao, who took on the role in May 2024. Arnao will continue as senior vice president of FP&A, investor relations and treasury.

Business service technology provider ServiceRocket’s CFO Joy Mbanugo announced on LinkedIn that she is leaving the company. The CFO role at ServiceRocket was Mbanugo’s first. Before taking the job, she worked at Google for over five years in various finance functions, BlackRock as a vice president and a consultant at EY. She has not announced her next position. 

Scott Sekella | Joann

Scott Sekella has stepped down as chief financial officer of arts and crafts retailer Joann. Sekella joined the company in March after a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. He received a $400,000 retention bonus after the filing and will have to repay the bonus due to his resignation within six months of the bankruptcy filing. Before joining Joann to take on his first CFO position, Sekella was vice president of FP&A at Under Armour and global corporate controller at Crocs. Sekella has been replaced by Jeff Dwyer, managing director of Alvarez & Marsal, who will step in as interim CFO.
